Backstory

16 October 2004, 2:57 AM. In the dead of night, a previously undiscovered supervolcano (Wiki page) located near the Galapagos islands erupts nearly without warning. Hundreds of cubic miles of ash and rock are spewed into the air in a matter of days, a great deal of it within the first 24 hours. The explosion creates a caldera over 70 miles in diameter, which completely wipes out the main island Isabela. Earthquakes everywhere on earth cause massive destruction, and tsunamis ravage the west coast of South-, Middle-, and a part of North-America. Even Antarctica is hit by a tidal wave. The ashes rise high up in the atmosphere, spreading across the planet rather quickly, and blocking out the sun. Temperatures start steadily dropping as more ash is spewed out.

Rescue forces around the world do all they can to evacuate people to safer areas and shelters, but even though many nations cooperate, there are simply not enough forces for the job. Making matters worse is the fact that a lot of areas have drowned in chaos, small scale wars emerging as people fight over food and other resources. A few days in, the UN decides to give volunteers crash courses on rescue work, hoping this will improve the situation.

As scientists study the recorded data of the eruption however, they reach a staggering conclusion; this eruption could not have been caused by nature alone, the data doesn't add up to the course of events. Something (or someone, perhaps) else was to blame. After a bit of reexamining the data of the hours before the eruption they spot an anomaly in UV-radiation. Could this be what triggered the volcano? And where did it come from?

The RP
The players form a volunteering rescue crew in search for survivors in a semi-urban city, hit by both ashstorms and earthquakes. You will be given some basic equipment like a flashlight, a transceiver, flares etc, as well as a 9mm semi-automatic handgun issued by the governement for self-defense. Further instructions will be give at the start of each round.

-Description: A young man who was fired from his office job the day before the disaster hit, Marco broke into a survival store (oddly vacated due to its owner panicking, even though this was the sort of thing he'd prepared for) and took any and all necessary items to survive. Now he makes his home in an old tenement, trying to survive what he thinks is the apocalypse.
