But there was one house that looked completely untouched, as if time itself stopped for this house, and the war never happened. He sighs softly and looks down, seeing the body of a small child, he bites his lip softly and walks over the body. Just another person he'd have to bury later on.
"I'm home." He said into the empty home, with only a few furniture; a TV, and perhaps a working fridge, this house could never be home. He sighs, almost in hopes that someone would great him back, but every day...throughout all his years...it was the same...silence. He would place up his cane on a cane-stand and carefully walk to a recliner, carefully resting his old bones when sitting, as he sighs and just sits in the empty house. But if one were to look closely to a picture hanging above a fireplace....there, they'd find a picture of him and his family. Though no one would recognize him, for back then he was young and fit and strong, he was also...happy. He looks to the picture and closes his eyes, day dreaming of his past and his three little children and wife. All of them so...happy. A single tear drop falls, curling up on his recliner as he said softly, ".....i miss you all...." |
Valdivia quietly followed the squirrel. If the man had a home, that would be the best place to find supplies. Besides which...
Her father had been taken away at a young age. She had few memories of him. But somehow, the way this squirrel hobbled, the way that he looked, that gleam in his eye... Feelings stirred in the recesses of Valdivia's heart.
Quietly she entered the house, overhearing his statement. Somewhat embarrassed, she quickly turned to the fridge and opened it, examining the contents in great detail. |

He just stayed were he was; not much would be found in the fridge other than what army men normally ate; crusted bread and salted pork with pure black coffee. He blinks to see her follow him into the home and then walk in the kitchen. She was...determined to...help him. He smiled and spoke, "T-There's not much there...." He said softly, "Just bread and pork." Arkive sat in his chair and looked outside, it wasn't night time yet, but they skies were getting dim...perhaps rain? He turns back to her, "What's your name dear?" He asked softly.

Andrew followed the old squirrel and the girl, making sure not to alert them to his presence. He saw them enter a building, he pulled out his radio and contacted Dwayne again.
"Dwayne, this is Andrew. Just as I thought, we aren't alone here."
"Tell me about it," came the reply on the other, "I've found that out as well."
"Huh?"
"There's a wolf here, little girl wolf, she's asked me for identification!"
"And what did you do?"
"I ran of course!"
Andrew sighed, "Well, what's she doing now."
"She's following me, not doing much of anything, I believe she wants a reply."
"Then tell her who you are idiot. I've got my own things to do. I'll re-establish contact once their done."
"Wait Andrew-!"
Andrew turned off the radio and quickly pressed himself against the side of the building, peeking inside he saw the girl rumaging about in the fridge while the old one tried to strike up a conversation.
Ploink.
A raindrop fell on Andrew's head, he looked up, sure enough, it was the beginning of a downpour.
"Aw hell," Andrew said to himself as he tried to take keep himself from getting wet (and failing miserably). The house seemed to be the only shelter in sight. "Well," Andrew said, "Had to introduce myself sooner or later." Trying to generate an air of confidence, he strode into the house.

Daisy follows the other still, wanting some identification on this guy and why he was in the city. She jumps up and tackles him down, pinning him on the ground as he tail sways as she grunts, "Identify yourself right now!"
~Meanwhile~
Arkive blinks and looks to the window, hearing the rain fall as he sighs, "Heh...I wonder if some of my plants will grow this time..." He blinks and could almos swear he heard someone. He blinks a few times and looks back to the kitchen.

Trembling Dwayne spoke, "M-my n-name is Dwayne Ellsworth, I don't want any trouble, I just want to write my poem!"
......Meanwhile.....
Andrew looked around the ramshackle house, not exactly the neatest place in the world, but at least the rain wasn't getting in. Still maintaining his aura of confidence, Andrew walked into the kitchen and cleared his throat, to get the squirrel's and the girl's attention. "Hello, my name is Andrew McMurtry. Please to make your aquaintance."

The red-furred shrew opossum sighed, standing and shutting the fridge. "I'm Valdivia. 'At's your name, then?" She headed over to the counter and began examining the knives. If she was going to Circle territory, she'd more then likely need a way to protect herself.

Valdivia whirled around, knife in hand, staring at the newcomer in startlement. Very quickly, she scanned his face, then relaxed. "'Ell, is this house a beacon or something?" |

Arkive blinks, seeing someone else as he felt his ears flip back, "I...I am Arkive...sir." He said softly, his old eyes looking to him as he blinked to what the young woman was doing, taking knives? What ever for, he wondered. He would rise from his chair and bow, "If...if you two are in need of a place to stay...there is more than enough room." He said and smiles softly, "Though...as I'm sure you noticed, there's not much food I can offer you all." He said and pointed to empty rooms with bed, though a bit dusty.
He then hears about another here! Goodness, he'd have to find another bed. "If your friend needs a place to rest as well, he may come here." He said, being as kind and as gentle as he normally is, though seeing many new faces...that are alive no less, is a bit of a shocker for him. But then again, he's been living in a place with dead bodies scattered about the city, so not much is to be expected from him.

Andrew nodded, "Thanks, but on the subject of my friend," Andrew rolled his eyes, "Knowing that blathering idiot, he'll reject your offer. He's here to write an 'Epic Poem' dedicated to this wasteland. That bloody owls insane." Suddenly Andrew remembered something, "But he did say something about another person running around here, a little girl wolf who was asking him who he was an why he's here. She may need some shelter."

Blinks and smacks his head with his paw, "Oh no...Daisy..." He frowns and shakes his head, "When I asked her to patrol, I didn't mean for her to go and do that..." He grumbles and sits in his chair, "That little android needs to learn more than what she knows." He said and huffs, looking to the young male, "Is there a way to get in contact with your friend?" He asked.

"Andrew!? Thank god, this crazy wolf girl is insisting that I follow her! God only know where! HELP ME!!!"
Andrew rolled his eyes, "Just do what she says, I think she's a friend."
The Owl sounded indignant, "Friends don't tackle friends into the mud for no good reason!"

Felt his old heart skip a beat from the sudden outburst as he looks to her and trembles, but kept a smile on his lips, "N-Not a...p-problem..." He said and looks to them, "Well, as soon as Daisy gets here, you all should stay for the night at least, I doubt the rain will let up anytime soon." He said and sat down, trying to see if his heart was still beating.

He looks to her and thinks, looking outside to see the rain really pouring as he looks to the fireplace, "Well, there is a small shed outside, and I need to gather as much dry wood as possible for the fire. Would you be kind enough to get at least four small dry logs?" He asked kindly, "And when Daisy returns, you all can meet her." He said with a smile.
~Meanwhile in the rain~
Daisy had grabbed the person by the hand and ran in the rain, rather fast for a "child" her age as she heads into a store, that had plenty of food. She shakes her fur wild like and looks to him, "You will help me find food, alright? I must return to the Father-unit with some food." She said and gave him a cart, as she went down the ailes to find what foods were still good to eat.
