Ok, so it's settled then, and with that, we're about ready to begin.

Now....

If I could only think of a title....

Hehe, at any rate, once I get the last couple of bits of info from respective people, I'll throw up the propper thread, with the title, when I find one that suits, and we can use this one as the OOC thread if it's needed (Can I rename a thread? I was never certain about that....)

aye, you just 'edit' the first post in the thread and change the 'title' or possibly the 'subject' line. something like that. =P

Ok first post is up. Seeing as this is designed to be fairly short, I thought we'd jump straght into it rather than have a swath of introductio posts with nothing to do. You'll get to know each others characters as you characters do, so have fun.

I settled on a title, but I really suck at titles... I feel like this one is just a little bit too KH-ish... but, meh... Title isn't really important, I guess, if you enjoy the story. What do you think? Should I try to find something better?

Ok, putting up a bit more to move on now, even though we've not heard from Blue yet, but to Blue, don't worry, not leaving you behind or anything, just make sure you jump in soon, ok?

Also, remember that this is not just my story, for your characters to have their two cents within every so often; it's your story, and my task is to respond to what you do, Whatever you do, in such a way that the story manages to progress. Don't be affraid of really doing stuff.

What's amusing is that i thought this opening sequence would be relatively short, hehe...

Hmmm... it occurs I should have been a little clearer on the "short" thing... this is short coming from someone who usually makes very convoluted and detailed stories which can be converted into novellas when they're done...

It's short, sure, but my intent was that people would uncover the direction of, and a chunk of information about, the core plot from this sequence, and then follow it up fairly directly.

Still we'll see... the story will move along one way or the other soon, the manner in which it happens will depend on whether players solve the situation or the npcs do.

**Edit**

Alternatively, there's always the option of finishing out this sequence unhurried, calling a close to the RP there with all the questions hanging, and then reviewing, and asking if anyone wants to embark on a second chapter.

I was sort of hoping that while I was away at the weekend, folk might have voiced an opinion about which way we want to do this, regarding the above post, but no matter, question stands though:

Would you prefer to play onward and move this sequence along a bit faster now, or would you rather treat this opening sequence as a first installment, complete in itself, and then have the opportunity of embarking upon a second chapter?

i'd much rather prefer having this in chapters...

out of curiosity, how many pages would you estimate this would run on for, either way? you know... roughly.

Oh haven't the foggiest, judging from the opening section, hehe... it all depends on how quickly players move, how prepared people are to actively do stuff, and make me work to keep the story on track.

The more you actually do with each post, the faster it'll move...

For example, if most people make their posts about their observations and preparations, primarily, then it will progress relatively slowly, because I'll be the one progressing it piece by piece. On the other hand if people incorporate major actions into their work, such as finding this thing of note, or killing that npc, or taking the group's initiative somewhere, finding out about x, y, or z... Then that forces me to mold the story to accomodate the actions, which in turn means rapid progress through the plot because in molding, I will also advance.

Regardless that's one vote for closing when we finish the scene and offering the opportunity for further parts as and when people wish. Seeing as one person has stopped responding to my messages, and the other has made it known that they don't feel ready to jump in just yet, that means that if Arne is in agreement, that's how we'll do it.

At any rate, I'll go make another small addition now, and we'll see where that leaves us.

Ok, so, the threat may have been neutralised, but the scene won't be finished until we've dealt with a little bit of the aftermath and possibly learned a thing or two.

Oh, by the way, Arne: You introduced Marcus to me as a Pangolin, but in the story began and seem to have stuck with Opossum. I take it that's your preference, ya?

Opossums (what the rest of the sane, gramatically sensible world calls Possums... Ok, it is s slightly differet species, fine... still reads silly... **grumbles**) aare furred critters with long tails, mostly nocturnal, and without any exceedingly striking points of note, unless a player chooses to carry species features over specifically, of course... Pangolins, on the other hand resemble essentially a scale-armoured ant-eater, with long tongues, highly developed problem solving abilities as well as the ability to spray acid, somewhat like a skunk. Once again, it's entirely up to Arne which he is, and at that, entirely up to him which features are present and not in his character... just some background facts for people if they want some.

I'd lean that, as he's been introduced as an opossum for story context, unless Arne particularly wishes to revert to his original choice, then we may as well stick with what's been said so far.

To wrince, that's fine; we haven't had a chacne to actually introduce names yet, so you'll get to introduce yourself to other characters as you please.
