A small pod thuds into the ground. It is about the size of a van.
After a moment, a hatch opens up and smoke pours out.
"Well it's not my fault they wouldn't give me the coordinates! Paranoid little threadlings, the lot of them."
"You're one to talk."
"Yes I am, I know what I'm saying."
A black leather robe pulls itself out of the hatch and flings itself onto the ground. Regaining its balance, it observes the park that the pod crashed into.
"Huh. No damage, really. At least nobody's suing us."
"Suing us?" A blue head with a grey muzzle and a three-pointed crest pokes out of the hatch. "I've been in some major firefights in my time and I've always doubted I'd come out alive, but you come out of this deathtrap worrying about lawyers?!"
"Hey, watch it! I've met some really bad lawyers, you know."
"Sure you did. This hatch is too small, by the way, I think it shrunk."
The rope sighs and begins to crank a handle on the side of the pod. The hatch expands. A blue figure with large, bat-like wings and a pair of arms hops out. He dusts off his purple boots with his white-tipped tail, cracks his piked gloves, and says, "Right. So, where's the welcoming party?"
As if in answer, a thousand rifles pop up out of nowhere and the ominous sound of cocking echos through the trees.
"Lawyers!" cries the robe, trying to hid behind the blue figure who is half his height. As it is just a scrap of cloth, this is surprisingly successful.
The blue one rolls his eyes. "Hello out there. This is Masterweaver, and I'm Masterweaver. Yes, we have the same name. We come in peace. Now could you please put down the guns and stop scaring the robe?" |

one figure, a five foot seven anthropomorphic rat wearing an old fashioned [world war two, british] army helmet along with a labcoat, pauses for a moment, then lets his futuristic/retro mad scientist Death Ray [tm] drop to his side.
"hah, sorry about that. tell him not to worry, we don't have any lawyers. well, apart from me, but it was really just an introductory course."
he gives a grin and approaches, his empty hand outstretched.
"i'm Wrincewind J Anonymous, but everyone calls me wrince. it's a pleasure to meet you, Masterweaver. and you, Masterweaver. Do tell us how you found our little outpost here. we'll arrange for accomodation as soon as possible. if you see anything strange, don't worry about it for the first few weeks. everything here is a little odd." He moves his eyes around shiftily. "if you need anything, just yell!"

Masterweaver takes the map, glances at it, and comments, "This map is rather vague. Is it west at the tower, or north?"
Masterweaver, meanwhile, is engaging everyone in the story of their arrival. It involves meteors, a talking owl, and a robotic walrus, amongst other things. |
