you might want to look into getting a sata/IDE to USB connector. you can pull out a hard drive, plug it into another computer and access the data like it was a memory stick.
you probably know that already... *shrug* i find them really useful. _________________

I have six harddrives, 3 old IDEE tanks and three giant SATAs. The problem is you cannot put IDEE into new computers as they no longer come with the correct ports. All the information i have is on the IDEE. I could go out and buy a Harddrive cradle but that costs money. so, its done the old fashioned way, networking. And USB and USB 2.0 are slower then ethernet when transfering things over 2 gigs. Nothing ever works at optimum preformance when transfering giant files. the "supposed" 480 mbs transfer rate of USB2 drops to something like 10mbs when bombarded with too much information. Ethernet/Gigabit transfers are designed to handle heavy workloads. Ive had nothing but failure in the past with Firewire and USB when transfering files.

Don't you have back-up files stored somewhere though? _________________ Sometimes I like to pretend I'm a plane. Even though it's in my imagination, I think I can still manage to fly far, far away.

yes. 3 IDEE drives = 2 main drives about 240 gigs total, the 3rd drive is an ancient 500gig backup drive. Again, heres my problem, you cannot plug IDEE into SATA connectors. I could go out and buy a cradle, but again, that costs money.
Old computer with a burnt out network card, USB 1 slots, and a shady firewire slot, with an IDEE RAID. Its slow going.
